Muslim Yateem khana-1

Muslim Yateem khana in Pune City

As it is known fact in India, that Orphanages of Muslim Community are very rarely well maintained and very few people from the community are taking interest in taking care of this Orphanages.

1. There is no fixed and proper source of incomes for these orphanages. These institutes are also not funded by the Indian Government.   Expenses are curtailed for want of sufficient fund.  Some of Orphanages in Pune do not have website for public.  It is expected that website of such muslim Orphanages should display all details including the following on their website:

a)     IFSC code / Bank details for donations.
b)  Basic functionality and Social- economics works     carried out and other activities.
c)     List / Details of children in the Orphanage.
d)  Monthly/ Annual Donations received along with     Expdr.
e)    Executive Board Members / Directors.
f)   Information about how they are arranging day to   day basic needs of these children of orphanage

2.  The Sachar Panel Report states that the Muslims are behind even the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in socio-economic development.

Backwardness in Muslim Community in our country is mostly due to lack of proper education and Employment.  Even education of most of muslim community has been limited to their religious teachings, beliefs and customs.   Most of the Islamic scholar or muslim preacher are quoting in their lectures to study Islamic literature and not science / technology. They always teach importance of Islam but never teach importance of education as science and technology. If 8 years old boy /girl could by heart a full book of Quran (Holy book) then he/she can easily qualify any IIT or medical exam. So, Half the task will be fulfilled if we can pull the Muslims who are forced to complete their religious education, to also academic education. Muslim community should realize that academic education is also as much important as religious education.  On the same line, the children in the orphanages are taught only religious books, due to lack of sufficient fund.
Even if Children in the Orphanage are interested in having a good academic education, they are rarely allowed for want of sufficient fund.  They are being given a religious education, as it is freely available with them, while they are deprived of academic education, resulting in not capable of standing in the competitive world of the society.  It is heard that most of the people in the society are interested in spending on theses children’s education or taking over responsibility of monthly expenditure on their school education or higher studies at overseas.  Even most of the people in the society are interested in assisting these children in the orphanage for seeking Education loan or business loan from Banks or seeking Education loan for higher studies costing more than 30 lac.

3.    There is no interaction between such orphanage with outside society community members, who are keen in transferring fund or donating certain sum of money monthly.  Many society community members are also interested in giving a necessary career guidance to the children in such Orphanage, but nobody is interested in inviting them for doing this job.

4.    Even I have seen that people are ready to hand over their Used Cloths, Table, Chairs, PC & Printers, Kitchen utensils, Books, Study materials and other household items, to such orphanage, but there is no arrangement of inviting such request.

5.    Supreme Court rejected the petition that the right to adopt a child - till now restricted to Hindus, Buddhists and Jains - now extends to Muslims, Christians, Jews, Parsis and all other communities.

6.    There are internal clashes between Sunnis and Shiyas for –

7.    Comparative fertility and mortality rates are presented for various religious communities to explain the differential growth of the Muslim population. The relative backwardness of the Muslim community, and particularly of Muslim women, is noted as a factor in the comparatively high fertility rates observed among the Muslim population. The paper also reviews the contribution of Muslims to the politics, arts and culture of India, and then goes on to examine the problem of communalism and communal violence that has characterized the Indian political scene. The paper concludes with arguments in favour of ensuring justice and human rights for Muslims, emphasizing the importance of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and the positive role they could play in enhancing the condition of the Muslim community in India.

Active Muslim political parties

Indian Union Muslim League (IUMN), led by E. Ahamed active in Kerala.
All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), led by Badruddin Ajmal active in Assam state.
Active Muslim-majority political parties

Politics on Indian muslims:

Certain civil matters of jurisdiction for Muslims such as marriage, inheritance and waqf properties are governed by the Muslim Personal Law, which was developed during British rule and subsequently became part of independent India with some amendments. Lack of knowledge especially by some western writers tend to conflate Indian Muslim Personal Law with Sharia Law. Indian Muslims have rejected for any calls of sharia law in India.  Indian Muslim personal law is not developed as a Sharia Law but as an interpretation of existing Muslim laws as part of Common Law. The Supreme Court of India has ruled that Sharia or Muslim law holds precedence for Muslims over Indian civil law in such matters.
